American Horror Story Season 3: Coven has a killer hook -- a New Orleans coven descended from Salem witches gets in a turf war with voodoo witches from the 9th Ward. Makes Mardi Gras sound like your gramma's Bible study.

 

So what went wrong? In this episode, Jessica and Phil argue that show runners Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy missed the mark in Season 3. Every season of AHS has great acting and cinematography, and AHS S3 is anything but boring... except the tantalizing "bad witches rule NOLA" concept boils down to YAY FEMINISM and BOO RACISM. It slogs along with only a few, brief highs -- and a ton of painful, cringy lows.
